Sharyn West (BA (U of Cape Town), Ed. Diploma (U of Witwatersrand), MA (Institute of Ed. Ldn), MSTAT (E.Walker, Oxford) Mphil (U of Bristol)) has been teaching AT for 20 years in a variety of settings and approaches. She combined this teaching with her work as an university educator. She taught philosophy and ethics in faculties of Education, Health and Social Care to educators and practitioners in these fields from 1972 until 2008. She has taught in several countries including South Africa, Britain and Hong Kong. As a senior lecturer she also taught a range of techniques in physical therapy (massage, reflexology and manual lymph drainage) and platformed these on the therapists' use of themselves applying the Alexander principles. She is particularly skilled in helping persons find greater clarity about their embodied experience and enabling them to be more effective in their chosen activities.
