Born in London in 1983, James took up the saxophone aged 18 and was accepted to university only a year later. Graduating from Trinity College of Music (2007) worked as a music teacher and joined the band The Super Best Friends Club, appearing at the Royal Festival Hall and live on BBC Radio 6.

In 2009 he began Alexander Technique training with Peter and Ellie Ribeaux. He has since given workshops in Nagoya (Japan) and London, and was employed by health clinic Balance Health in the year that he lived in Hong Kong.

During his time in Hong Kong he also studied Wing Chun with Sifu Wan Kam Leung, a student of Wong Shun Leung who was himself a student of Ip Man (Bruce Lee's first teacher). He continues training with Sifu Wan by visiting him in Hong Kong each year and hopes to one day teach his style in the UK.
