workshop: tue 11 aug | details

Clare Maxwell first encountered the Alexander Technique in 1986. It changed the course of her life and career as a choreographer and dancer, and became the one thing that she was interested in teaching to others. She received her certificate to teach in 2000 from ACAT/NYC, and has completed further certification in The Art of Breathing with Jessica Wolf. Clare is inspired by many of her dance influences, especially the Dart Procedures as taught to her by Marie Stroud, Joan Murray, and Alex Murray.  Clare has a private practice in NYC, and is on the faculty of The William Esper Acting Studio and the dance organization Movement Research. She has presented her work in the USA at the yearly AmSAT conferences, the Freedom to Act Conference in NYC, and in Russia at the LinkVostok Festival. Clare is passionate about improving the training processes of performing artists, therapists, and somatic practitioners.
