As humans, we have a desire to express ourselves. F. M. Alexander's use of 'Whispered Ah' was a brilliant way to aid singers, actors, and all of us who wish to communicate to make essential connections with our breath and sound. This workshop will explore the use of 'Whispered Ah' and other vowels as tools for enhancing sound production in singing and speaking.
We will explore the connections of basic vocal function [breath, phonation, resonance, articulation and expression] as a means to work with Whispered Ah with our students thus helping them make the connections with breath and vocalization in order to achieve an embodied, expressive sound.
The class will include some discussion of vocal technique and its application to Alexander's principles, with vocal exercises and vocalizations as part of the experience of exploring the magic of 'Whispered Ah'.
