exploring the performing moment
with robert lada
monday aug 10, 14:00 - 16:00
venue: HSG-031, Health Science Building (ground level)
Musicians, or any performers, want to be able to play uninhibitedly and skillfully and bring emotion, experience, and technique to the performing moment. Our job as Alexander teachers is to reveal the path to change for the person, and therefore change the performance. We want to take the extra energy they use to keep themselves upright and make it available for artistic expression.
I’ll present some of the techniques that I use to implement these goals in a hands-on, participatory workshop. We’ll have a mixture of demonstrations, discussions, exercises, and videos tailored to the wishes of the participants. The work will be appropriate for musicians, actors, athletes, and artists and will focus on the process of creative performance.
