A activity C communicating
Suitable for teachers, teacher trainees, all.
Workshop integrates and applies Alexander's Technique into the many rich dimensions of the Activity and Art of Walking. Through:
- Practical explorations presenting Nature-al, Conscious, Walking using FMA's principles and practice – awareness, inhibition, direction, 'unhooking' habitual walking patterns (what/how NOT to do), promoting 'Conscious, Constructive, Control' thinking to change unskillful action, to expand awareness, develop Poise (and alleviate physical problems). How we are moulded by lifestyles – some damaging popular cultural myths ( eg exercise/s, speed)
- Offering 'games'/ procedures/ 'play walkings' developed to bring awareness and effective change. Using Walking as the primary Movement pattern (includes Primary Control, Releasing 'mechanism', 'monkey').
- The Art of Natural, Conscious Walking as a vital element in all life activity – eg business (Poise & Presence) – sport (walkers, runners, tennis) – meditation (mindfulness not enough!). Awareness in Activity.
- Communicating The Alexander Technique to a wide public – teaching through the appeal of 'walking' (everyone walks), and my book, The Art of Walking.
